Hypnotherapy for Fear of Flying is the second most common phobia we deal with (behind fear of public speaking/ presenting) at Assured Effects Hypnotherapy in Balham. The definition of a phobia is that the fear is irrational and inappropriate. Fear of flying is a highly exaggerated reaction to a perceived threat or danger. When our body feels under threat (perceived or real) adrenaline is produced and we enter in fight or flight mode (no pun intended!). However, suffering a phobic reaction despite being upsetting, is also embarrassing. It is often this embarrassment factor that becomes the most powerful thing – the fear of the fearful reaction and losing control.
